Do you love Him?

Food Laws

Should Christians keep the Food Laws?

“If you love me, keep My commandments…” Yeshua.

John 14:15

Wait, he died so I don’t have to keep the commandments or more specifically I only have to keep the commandments they tell me I need to keep, where did they get their list?

Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, these are the animals you may eat among all the animals in the earth.

LevITICUS 11:2

Leviticus 11 goes on to explain that only animals that chew the cud and have a split hoof, only fish with fins and scales and only birds that are not birds of prey or carrion eaters can be eaten.

Hold on, that does not apply to me, that only applies to the Children of Israel.

that you were at that time without the Messiah (Christ), alienated from the citizenship of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who used to be far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

Ephesians 2:12-13 Net

You have been brought into (near) the citizenship of Israel by the blood of Christ.

Now if some of the branches were broken off, and you a wild olive shoot, were grafted in among them and participated in the richness of the olive root

For if God did not spare the natural branches, perhaps he will not spare you.

romans 11:17 & 21 Net

The tree Paul is referencing here is Israel, represented by the natural branches that were broken off, the wild branches are Gentiles, which are grafted into the tree representing Israel.

Add references to aliens (non-Israelites) being joined to Israel by their faith in God.

Yeshua was a Jewish Rabbi, he led a sinless life. Sin is transgression of the law.

If we did what Yeshua did (WWJD – What would Jesus Do?), we would keep the commandments including the food laws. Do you think Jesus ate pig?

Stay tuned not done here.

It’s interesting how the text connects the commandments to both historical and spiritual contexts. The distinction between the Children of Israel and Gentiles is crucial in understanding the application of these laws. The idea of being grafted into Israel through faith adds a deeper layer of spiritual unity. The question about Jesus and dietary laws challenges us to reflect on his practices. Do you think the food laws still hold significance for believers today?

Yes, Yeshua (Jesus) said that he did not come to do away with the Torah, but to complete and that not a jot or tittle (Yod letter and marks on fancy Hebrew letters) would be gone before all was done. He goes on to say that one who breaks the least of these commandments and teaches others will be least in the kingdom of heaven. Not saying the food laws are the least but they are bit less than murder and adultery amongst others. A proper reading of Paul will also show that the Torah is to be kept not discarded. God Bless and Shalom, Rick
